About Me….
I am a Malawian based in Lilongwe and work for KPMG, an international private Accountancy practice firm specialising in Audit, Tax and Advisory services.
My interests are in areas of governance, risk management and control. I believe that there is hope for rebuilding and promoting prosperity in Malawian businesses. However, one of the challenges facing these businesses is that of governance. For instance, I have often wondered why the Chief Executive of Press Corporation is by default the Chairman of most if not all its subsidiaries giving him the over-bearing power to make decisions without being challenged. I have also wondered why the civil service especially the ministry of education is fraught with corruption scandals which would probably indicate less control or lack of it.
On this blog, I will attempt to comment and/or discuss problems that accompany slow growth and development of Malawian businesses. I will also comment on political issues affecting our society from time to time. Afterall, we are all political animals providing our politicians with checks and balances(an audit) for a peaceful Malawi. A politically stable Malawi will not only promote social stability and attract foreign investment, but also allow Malawian companies to enter the global marketplace and commence real socio-economic expansion.
